A few days have passed now since U.S. Republican candidate Donald Trump first raised the spectre of London-based radicalisation and extremism in the United States. But British-based police are still speaking out in his favour, this time on the Police.Community web forum, where users have been exchanging stories about their fears of policing in the United Kingdom.
Breitbart London confirmed with London police less than 48 hours ago that they do indeed feel fearful of policing in the capital, while the Daily Mail uncovered that the trend reaches far beyond London, with one policeman saying he has to ask permission from Muslim leaders before patrolling in their areas in England.
Now, more police have weighed into the debate, with one verified police user in particular noting online: “…yes there are places in the city where I am afraid to go.”
The user, “CountyCop” added: “Two areas in particular are really no go areas for single crewed officers particularly at night.
“Even routine calls to these areas make me nervous. If we hear colleagues going to them we always free ourselves up and make are way to the area just in case. People in these areas have little or no issue ambushing and attacking officers.
“All I say is that these areas sort of tie into what Mr Trumps [sic] has said. The areas are very anti police and have have some very very strong cultural views in which the law has little or no standing.
“…I used to work in a largely rural area where no situation ever really unnerved me or made me fear for my safety. However coming to a city environment within this current climate has made me question my safety over the last few months.”
The interventions will heap further pressure on Prime Minister David Cameron, London Mayor Boris Johnson, and London's police headquarters, Scotland Yard, after they all dismissed and mocked Mr. Trump's allegations that “parts of London are “so radicalised the police are afraid for their lives”.
On Tuesday night, a Metropolitan Police officer in London told Breitbart London : “Islamification has and is occurring. Muslim areas are not new.”
The officer, who has most of his experience in West London and across various police constabularies, added: “When I was a teenage lad in [B]urnley there were no go white areas. This IS the case still nationally… including London where you have to have extra vigilance in certain parts when you are working”.
Another officer from Yorkshire in the North of England, wrote: “I'm not allowed to travel in half blues [uniform] to work anymore IN MY OWN CAR as we're “All at risk of attack” – yet as soon as someone points out the obvious it's ‘divisive.'”
He added: “In this instance he [Trump] isn't wrong. Our political leaders are best either ill-informed or simply being disingenuous.
